The PSU Foundation was incorporated in 1963 as an independent tax-exempt organization. Our mission is to cultivate and manage both monetary and volunteer support for the University. Gifts to the Foundation advance PSU by providing scholarships for outstanding students, supporting faculty research and instruction, and enhancing facilities and program development and growth.
We have formed a creative collaboration with Portland State University dedicated to inspiring and making effective use of private contributions. This support enables the University to reach levels of excellence unattainable through public funding alone. Philanthropy advances PSU by providing scholarships, supporting faculty research and instruction, enhancing facilities, and nurturing new programs. Since state appropriation covers a decreasing portion of the University's budget, the role of private gifts is even more vital.
Executive Director, P.A. 'Tony' Leineweber and Chief Financial Officer, Rebecca Hein oversee a staff of 15 who handle the day-to-day operations of the Foundation, including:
- Gift acceptance and administration
- Gift processing and receipting
- Check disbursements and account transfers
- Financial accounting and reporting
- Donor and alumni record maintenance
- Donor Stewardship
